The Start of Something New

Just Thoughts: Do not wait until the conditions are perfect to begin. Beginning makes the conditions perfect. - Alan Cohen

Hello friends and family,
I have started a blog. I've always thought about it, but just never made the decision to actually do it. The whole blog idea didn't come back to mind until I saw this year's Super Bowl half-time show. I saw how social networking sites just blew up with comments on Madonna's performance, but ... it wasn't until I watched the Grammy's. I saw how my Twitter and Facebook had many comments after every performance or when someone presented or won the award. People were quickly saying their opinions and what they thought of the person. I hit up uncle Google and found that many people were already blogging about what they liked or didn't like.

This is why I named this post, "The Start of Something New" ... if you personally know me or know of me, you know I am a Youth Pastor, and my beliefs are strictly based on the word of God and the experiences I have lived throughout my young life. Though I am not perfect, I am the same everywhere I go and with everyone I meet. This is my lifestyle and this is my calling, so my reaction to many things go based on my faith. I believe that God called for a young generation to stand up for God during these days, in which television, music and internet tells them to do otherwise. My life and my beliefs of my family and myself are based on a decision. This decision demands a commitment. So what better time to begin. I've heard someone say before that their job is to make 'Him' famous. Jesus is already famous, but many people that are called to preach his word are staying quiet during these testing and trying times. A blog? well maybe 10 people will read this, but I pray that it sparks a passion in them to be open about their faith and be unashamed to proclaim the name of Jesus over everything. Especially in social networking.

Isaiah 43:19 says "See, I am doing a new thing!" Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland."

This is a new thing, and in God we are all new creatures. We cannot be afraid to stand up and talk about what we believe in. You see the verse is telling us, that what we start for God's Kingdom will make a way in the wasteland. We need to be bold Christians that will not be afraid to face adversity to preach His name ... your 'thing' will make a way for people to come to Christ. Last year in our youth conference, we had an awesome message given by my friend M. Anzaldua in which he said, "in 5 years, it will be cool to worship satan." ... this shocked me, but should I really be shocked, being that its already starting? Look up, Nicki Minaj's 2012 Grammy Performance (Exorcism of her alter-ego Roman) ... What hurts is that young people just stand there and accept this as a norm and call her as one of my friend's put it, "a visionary." This was not the case and in times like this we must be on our guard, standing firm in the faith being strong and courageous! (1 Cor 16:13) We are not to be strong and courageous by just standing. To be courageous is to express that you are courageous by actually moving.

This blog is just something new, 'a new thing' that I feel in my heart can help reach out to a generation that's lost in the wilderness and wastelands. Just think to yourself, has God been calling you to do something? something new? something different to reach out to your generation?

Just my thoughts ... Do not fear.

Be blessed,
Pastor Andres
