Who are you in Christ?
Just Thoughts: God has given you one face, and you make yourself another.
- William Shakespeare
Today we are in a generation that knows right from wrong. Is this statement a fact? The problem is that today everything that morally would be considered bad is now good and what would be considered good is _______. I tend to hear this a lot, "well, if you don't like it, then change the channel!" Most of what is portrayed on TV and movies is completely against God. The Anti-Christ generation is rising and staring right into our faces. You may be a part of this and not even realize it. You see ... the programs, movies, and music the world offers is starting to desensitize young people today. The drugs, promiscuous sex, under-age drinking is now something that is "cool" in the eyes of young people. Shows like Jersey Show involve all that I mentioned and more, and people are addicted to watching this lifestyle.
What happens? Young boys and girls will want to emulate what they see. The more you think about something, the more likely you will end up doing what your thinking about. As Christians we have to stand up to this. God is so powerful that he could take over this world just by using the youth. Is this statement a fact? This week I had a friend fall into that very same situation. He was invited by friends to the movies and walked in to the film "Project X" ... a movie that he never heard about. Within the first few minutes of the movie, he walked out with a heavy conviction over him. Project X??? I will never see the movie and made that decision when I saw the previews on TV. "3 high school seniors throw a birthday party to make a name for themselves. As the night progresses, things spiral out of control as word of the party spreads" ... with the following rating: Rated R for crude and sexual content throughout, nudity, drugs, drinking, pervasive language, reckless behavior and mayhem - all involving teens
All involving teens?
He told me that the theater was full of young people. Many were being rejected of purchasing a ticket because they weren't 21 years of age. The sad thing was that they were getting upset that they couldn't enter to watch the movie!! What has interested young kids today to watch reckless behavior and mayhem?? While walking out of the theater with an added conviction that people may have seen him there, he also felt that people looked at him as being ridiculous for walking out. God took him to 1 Peter 4:1-4 NIV
Therefore, since Christ suffered in his body, arm yourselves also with the same attitude, because whoever suffers in the body is done with sin. 2 As a result, they do not live the rest of their earthly lives for evil human desires, but rather for the will of God. 3 For you have spent enough time in the past doing what pagans choose to do - living in debauchery, lust, drunkenness, orgies, carousing and detestable idolatry. 4 They are surprised that you do not join them in their reckless, wild living, and they heap abuse on you.
You see, Jesus already suffered on the cross to free us from sin. Which means, that we are no longer in sin ... so why do we continue to participate in it? As Christians we need to take a stand to this movement. I'm not saying we need to grab signs and start picketing, I'm saying that our lifestyle, no matter our age, needs to always represent Christ, everywhere we step foot in. The bible says to don't ever let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in life. The world is watching our every move and will point you out when you do wrong ... but why are we not pointing out what is wrong in the world? We are not able to change everything around us, but we can change ourselves first. If we don't want to be looked down upon and we want to be seen as mature believers, then we have to actually become mature believers. Imagine that! Let's not drag God's standard of truth down to our level of performance. To get where God wants us to be, we have to have integrity. We need to deny ourselves and take up our cross daily and follow Jesus. We are the light of the world. We need to stand up so that it literally lights everyone and everything we come in contact with ... even if it causes us to walk out of a theater.
As believers we need to be careful with the things that we watch and listen to, because we can easily open doors for the enemy to enter freely. You see, satan cannot put a curse on a Christian, but a Christian can cast a curse on themselves.
