Elevation requires Obedience

Psalm 103:1-5 - Praise the Lord, my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name. 2 Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all his benefits 3 who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, 4 who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, 5 who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's.

When I read that Psalm it makes me think about where King David was coming from when he said those words. David's tone appears to be coming from a place later in his life, perhaps after he had passed through some type of major crisis from which he was delivered. I love the story of King David, because the favor of God surrounded him from a shepherd boy to a King. Now he praises God from his inmost being, because he knows that he would be in a pit if it wasn't for Him. Being a King, I'm sure, was not an easy task. Reading it thousands of years later always sounds simple, but when God puts a heavy demand in your calling, will you obey?

I can say that my life completely changed in 2012. These past 2 years were not easy ... at all. It was a moment in our lives where my wife and I came to a walk in our ministry where we had to submit in obedience to what God was asking us to do. I've heard many people say that 'many are called, but chosen are few.' I never really understood this until I had to submit everything I worked so hard for in an instance. Not always will people understand the sacrifices you make in obedience to God. Ask Joseph. He was sold into slavery by his very own family (Gen 37). But one thing that Joseph did was remain obedient and would submit himself to whatever calling was asked of him. Because of that, the favor of God continued to elevate him from slavery, to eventually being in charge of the whole land of Egypt. It hasn't been an easy 2 years, but ......... it has been a fruitful 2 years. From my family, my finances, to growing, to believing to then seeing what God promised to me many years ago. When I thought I needed deliverance, it was just God pushing me to my destiny.

David strains everything that is within him to express his feelings. He has a moment of remembrance that God has always been Good. I know that God has been with me through it all. I heard a few week ago from a Pastor I truly admire that 'When your situation does not line up with your expectation, Jesus is about to show you a revelation.' I made a choice, to believe and obey what God was asking my family to do. No it was not easy, but many would not be able to walk in your shoes. Just know that God is always with you (Is 41:10). He as opened doors I would have never expected, blessed me with friends I would have never thought I'd know, elevated me in my workplace and surrounded me with people of such great wisdom. Only God does that. I am so thankful of my family, my church Destiny, my Pastors, the people I serve in ministry with ... the harvest God promised is being seen every week and it started with a choice.

We are in an amazing series called #ALIVE in our young adults ministry and we have seen dreams, hope, visions and favor come back to life within our young adult community and at this time I declare that the same is over you. Do not give up. You were chosen for a time like this. Once you understand that God is always with you, you can look back and say proudly like David, 'Praise the Lord, my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name.' Even though this time of life can be full of difficulties, with great joy, we need to realize that the best is yet to come.

You are not alone.

From my heart,

Andres
